Description

If you only have a day to explore the Big Island, then a tour with a knowledgeable guide is a must. The Oahu to Hilo: Volcano Adventure package eliminates all the guesswork so you can make the most of your limited time on the island. This tour will take you to all the top attractions - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, historic Hilo, waterfalls, and rainforests - plus it includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, guided tour, entrance fees, and even lunch.

You’ll be booked on an early morning, inter-island flight from Oahu and be flown to Hilo, where your driver/guide will pick you up and transport you to all the Big Island hotspots, including:

Akaka Falls: A short hike through a lush rainforest will take you to the viewing platform for the thundering 442-foot Akaka Falls. The route to the waterfall is short (.5 mile loop) and fairly easy - it’s paved and well marked, though there are some stairs along the way.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: You will get to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and  spend the afternoon exploring the remnants of eruptions past and present. Hawaiian Volcanoes N.P. is home to both Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and you’ll visit Halema’uma’u Crater, which is located within the main caldera at its summit. There will also be a stop to view steam vents and you will get the opportunity to walk through Nahuku Lava Tube. The walk to and through the lava tube is short and easy and the inside of the lava tube is lit as well. Before leaving the park, your guide will also take you for a drive along the scenic Chain of Craters Road and stop at the Kealakomo Overlook so you can enjoy the panoramic coastal views.

Rainbow Falls: Though much smaller than Akaka Falls, the 80-foot tall Rainbow Falls can be just as impressive - especially when the sunlight hits just right, creating rainbows in the mist below.

Hilo Town: The tour winds down with a drive through Hilo’s historic district, along its famous Banyan Drive, and past Liliuokalani Gardens.

(Note: Order of stops may change due to traffic, weather, or other circumstances.)

Getting home: You’ll arrive back at the airport with plenty of time to grab a bite to eat before your early evening return flight to Oahu. Guests usually arrive in Honolulu between 7-8pm, though this is always subject to change. Transportation from the airport to your lodging is not included.
