Oahu to Hilo Volcano Tour including Airfare and Helicopter Ride

Are you on a short vacation to Hawaii and want to make sure you don’t miss a thing? Then leave the planning to the professionals, join a tour, and enjoy the view!

The Oahu Volcano Tour includes the top highlights of the Big Island, while dealing with your airfare and transportation from most Waikiki hotels. To get the mot into your exciting day, your driver will pick you up early in the morning. From Honolulu you’ll take the quick inter-island flight to Hilo on the Big Island. Try to catch a window seat on the flight, as the tropical sunrise from high above the sea is a sight to remember.

Once you arrive on the Big Island of Hawaii, switch rides and board a luxurious helicopter for a 45-minute spin above the volcano. Hilo owes its spectacular sights to the fact that an enormous active volcano is situated right next to the lush rainforests of the windward side of the island. Go from boiling lava, across craters and black volcanic deserts straight into deep green valleys and ridges where hundreds of waterfalls cascade down the mountain. Since volcanic activity is constantly changing it takes just a little luck to find the most active spots on the day of your visit. Luckily, your pilot-guide is an expert on the area and will do his best to give you the most memorable experience.

After this exhilarating flight, experience the sweet side of Hawaii. At the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut factory, learn about how the most popular souvenir from Hawaii is grown, roasted to perfection, and used to make sweet or salty treats that always bring a smile to your face. Try some tropical snacks and bring some home to give your family a taste of the Pacific.

You’ve already seen the largest rainforest in the US from above during your helicopter tour. Now you can take a closer look at the colorful and exotic flowers that hide within the jungle. At the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, there’s of plenty opportunity to see, photograph, and smell the unique collection of flora found in Hawaii. While visiting the Gardens, you can learn about the local ecosystem and see a wide range of beautiful flowers and tropical plants.

A trip to the islands is never complete without a visit to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a drive around the main attractions of the park, where you learn all about Hawaii and its volcanoes at the Jaggar Museum. Halema’uma’u crater and the famous Thurston Lava Tube are remains of past eruptions that you can safely visit these days. Other attractions along our Volcano Tour are the Kilauea Visitor Center, Kilauea Iki steam vents, and the Chain of Craters Road. Visit the Fern Tree Jungle, where nature has started to reclaim the rich volcanic soi.

After this full day of island exploration you get to rest on your way home. Airfare back to Oahu is included in this package. Your driver will pick you up at the airport and whisk you back to your Waikiki hotel. Enjoy this complete Big Island package and leave the planning to us; it’s the ideal field trip for those who want to learn everything they can about Hawaii on a short schedule.

On Tuesday, our pilot, Marco, brought us up and it was wonderful. The weather, although not perfect, cooperated and we got to see lava bubbling from out of the earth, and other amazing sights. It’s also important to note that they take safety very seriously and weather may change your selection or can even cancel your trip so be sure to have a backup plan for other activities in the area.

The absolute highlight of our week in Hawaii was this helicopter tour.  Our pilot, Carl, took great care to follow the flight plan we wanted and we accomplished exactly what we intended. He even landed the copter at a waterfall where we all got out. And got drenched! It was so great. Carl was very knowledgeable about the island and we found ourselves amazed.

I knew a helicopter tour would be amazing here on the Big Island of Hawaii, but WOW! Expectations were exceeded 100%! I have done a lot of exploring/adventures all over the world and this is at the very top of my MUST do no matter what to anyone who visits! it was worth every penny and then some! do not miss the opportunity of a lifetime you have to do this! I will say that everyone should do this at least once. The big island is so beautifully preserved and there is not enough time to see the entire Island.

Seriously?! When we stumbled on this site, we were like “you can actually do helicopter tours”?! Green mountains, volcanoes, and waterfalls. It was something out of Jurassic Park. Literally, since they filmed parts of the movie in Hawaii.

Worth every penny! Didn’t realize how majestic the Big Island of Hawaii is and in case you didn’t know, the big island is actually named Hawaii. That was super confusing for us until our pilot explained it to us. (tourist fail). The views are stunning and we’re hoping to do this again next time we make it out here. If you have the chance to do this, you will not regret it!

A bit pricey, yes, but it was well worth the expense. We highly recommend the tour! Our neighbor in Atlanta used to live in Kona and she recommended this business as the best and safest helicopter experience. The highlight of the tour was an unbelievable view of a crater and lava lake bubbling with molten lava! Awesome!! Flying over the coast line watching new land being created is simply awe inspiring.

Well that’s was something that I should have added to my bucket list! I never would have done this until I found out from a friend who recently took a helicopter flight on the Big Island and he told me all about it. Highly recommend if you want to have an epic memory of your vacation to Hawaii!

Before heading to Hawaii we heard nothing but amazing things about Helicopter tours. There are a lot of mountains in Hawaii and the roads don’t take you everywhere so this is one of the best ways to see all the amazing scenery like hidden waterfalls. We were visiting friends on Oahu, but really wanted to check out the Big Island and the volcanoes. Well this just happened to be the perfect tour to get our fix! They picked us up in Waikiki and took us on an interisland flight to Hilo. Then we got on the chopper and let’s just say it did not disappoint! Wow! You think you know how beautiful Hawaii is, but you don’t until you see it with your own eyes! After the ride, you get to actually tour around the Volcano National Park. The pilot and guides simply took care of us and we were back on Oahu by the end of the day. Given everything we did, the price is right and a perfect all day tour!
