Lava flowing is an act of nature, therefore we do not guarantee sighting of lava. Surface lava flows may be present but may not be visible due to environmental conditions or time constraints.
Why Can't I Select A Specific Departure Time?
We arrange each flight in order to maximize comfort and ensure that the aircraft is properly weighted and balanced. For this reason, we can provide you with your specific flight time once we receive the passenger information requested in our confirmation e-mail. We will contact you with a confirmed flight time at the email address and/or phone number provided during purchase.
Should We Take Motion Sickness Pills?
If you know you may get motion sickness then we suggest taking something before you fly. We provide a smooth ride and most people do great!
What is the Front Seat upgrade?
For an additional $100.00 per seat you will be guaranteed a front seat (2 available).
Children under the age of 24 months (2 years) will fly free when seated in the lap of a paying adult – proof of age required for lap children. Children that are 24 months and over require an individual full-fare seat.
Can I go scuba diving before the tour?
For safety and health reasons, no scuba diving before 24 hours prior to the tour date.
A ride in our Eco-Star Helicopter will give you more than a front row seat for nature’s most spectacular display. Scour Kilauea from the sky in search of lava, and continue towards the crater that was previously Pu‘u ‘O‘o Vent. Fly over Volcanoes National Park and witness the destructive aftermath of the world's most active volcano.
Soar over lush rainforests of the northern part of Hilo, Mauna Loa’s vistas, and the plunging Rainbow Falls. This spectacle will form a moving contrast with the intense power of Kilauea Volcano. Hawaii Big Island helicopter tours are the best way to discover the diversity and beauty of this place.

The Volcanoes Adventure showcases the story of how Hawaii is inextricably linked to the elements. You will fly over Kilauea, what was the most active volcano on earth, and continue towards the crater that was previously Puu Oo Vent. The windward side also catches enough rain to make Hilo the wettest city in the United States.
All this water fills tunnels that once flowed with lava, creating incredible rivers, pools and waterfalls all over East Hawai'i. View Hilo's lush rainforests, Mauna Loa’s vistas and the plunging Wai'anuenue (Rainbow Falls), so named for the rainbows you can see in the mist when the early morning sunshine hits the water. Choose the Lava & Rainforests Adventure to see the volcanoes and waterfalls inaccessible by any other means!
Know before you book:
- Tours run between the hours of 8am and 3pm.
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- Dress comfortably. It often gets cold in the helicopter at altitude, and passing showers are common in the area.
- Wear dark clothing to reduce glare for better photos.
